From September 25 to 26, in Seoul, South Korea, the World Mayors Forum on the theme "Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Building an Inclusive and Resilient Future" is taking place. The forum has the participation of 46 mayors from around the world, along with many leaders from global organizations, corporations, and prominent enterprises. The delegation from Da Nang City is led by Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Council, and includes representatives from various city departments and agencies.

The forum focuses on in-depth discussions with the goal of ensuring social inclusion so that no one is left behind, especially those facing difficulties, even as cities strive for urban development and economic growth.

The World Mayors Forum is held annually in various countries around the world and is a reputable international conference that brings together many city leaders from around the world.

During the forum, the mayors expressed their interest in and exchanged ideas about how mayors can build inclusive societies and empower communities. They also discussed how inclusiveness and empowerment are essential for building "a society for all," including disadvantaged and vulnerable groups. This is particularly important in the post-pandemic world, where systemic inequalities in societies have become more severe due to the consequences of the pandemic.

As part of the forum, the Da Nang delegation participated in a promotional program to introduce tourism in Da Nang held on September 25, 2023, at the Ramada by Wyndham Seoul Dongdaemun Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. The program was organized by the Da Nang City Department of Tourism in coordination with the Representative Office of Tourism Promotion of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in South Korea and was attended by Nguyen Viet Anh, Deputy Ambassador of Vietnam in South Korea, and Ly Xuong Can, Vietnamese Ambassador for Tourism in South Korea, as well as over 80 invitees, including representatives from airlines, travel agencies, MICE organizations, golf courses, key opinion leaders (KOLs), influencers, and Korean media agencies. The program aimed to promote destinations and exceptional products, with a focus on MICE and golf tourism promotion.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Council, praised South Korea as the leading international market for Da Nang in recent times. The city's tourism industry has always emphasized and actively engaged in promotional activities in South Korea, with the goal of providing Korean tourists with new and high-quality experiences. Additionally, the new visa policy for entry into Vietnam starting from August 15, 2023, is expected to create more convenience for international travelers, including those from South Korea.

South Korea has consistently been the top international market for visitors to Da Nang and has seen continuous growth since 2015. After Vietnam reopened international tourism, Da Nang's tourism sector experienced a positive recovery and breakthrough. As of September 2023, the number of guests staying in accommodation establishments is estimated to have reached over 5.8 million, equivalent to 115% compared to the same period in 2019. International guests are estimated at 1.56 million, equal to 98% compared to the same period in 2019, with South Korea being the leading international market with over 1 million guests, accounting for 48% of the international visitors to Da Nang.

The Da Nang tourism industry is positioning itself as a golf destination on the regional and global golf tourism map by hosting the Asian Development Tour golf tournament for three consecutive years from 2022 to 2024. The tournament, named the BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang, was successfully held in 2022 and 2023, attracting the attention of many professional golfers, including prominent players from South Korea such as Minhyeok Yang, Hyukchul Shin, and Minwoo Park. By enhancing the focus on MICE and golf in promotional activities, the Da Nang Department of Tourism aims to make Da Nang a center for high-quality tourism and services, attracting high-spending tourists to boost the city's tourism economy.
