World’s Fourth-Largest Ferris wheel Opens in Da Nang
On 18th July, the Asia Park Company held a ceremony to debut the “Sun Wheel”, the first part of its Asia Park project on the southern side of 2nd September Monument. The 115m high wheel is the fourth largest observation wheel in the world.

The 64-cabin wheel can accommodate up to a total of 384 passengers and takes an average of 15 minutes to complete one rotation.  Construction of the Sun Wheel started in October 2013 and was implemented by leading technological experts from Germany, Japan and Thailand, with Vietnamese engineers and workers.  The wheel will offer tourists a breathtaking and panoramic view of the illuminated and sparkling city at night.  In addition, tourists will have an opportunity to enjoy a 4.7-metre-high, 20-tonne Buddha statue, which was built near the wheel.

The Asia Park, covering a site of over 88 hectares, was designed by the renowned architect Bill Bensley (4 consecutive years in the top 5 most famous architects worldwide) of the Bensley Design Studios Consultancy Group.

The project’s Stage 1 is scheduled to be put into operation by the end of 2015, involving a total investment of approximately 4 trillion VND ($190 million). It will include the Sun Wheel and an amusement park with more than 60 international standard rides.  Stage 2 of the project, promising to become a leading tourist attraction in Asia, will involve a cultural park with replicas featuring famous architectural and cultural works of 9 Asian countries.

To celebrate this event, from now to 31st December 2014, the Sun Wheel is offering a special promotional programme with prices at 50,000 VND/ticket (free for child under 1 metre). The wheel will open daily from 5pm until 11pm.
