On the evening of May 9th at Trung Vuong Theater, the opening ceremony for the first Da Nang Asian Film Festival 2023 (DANAFF I),themed "Bringing Da Nang to Asia and Bringing Asia to Da Nang”, took place.
In her opening speech, Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairwoman of the Association for the Promotion of Film Development (VFDA) and Director of DANAFF I, stated that "DANAFF I is evidence of the implementation of the 2022 Film Law in real life. DANAFF is co-organized by Da Nang and the Film Industry Association, which is in line with the development of the film industry, connecting a city with great potentialwith film industries in the region and around the world. Through that, the film industry will flourish and spread the attractiveness of this city”.
Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, said that in past years, Da Nang has been continuously striving for development and achieving important achievements in many fields.

Along with infrastructure investment and economic development, the City has identified important tasks for sustainable cultural and social development in an aim towards building a happy, comprehensive, and harmonious life for localcitizens. The city recognizes the film industry as both an art and an economic sector.
"With natural advantages, Da Nang hopes to build the film industry into a cultural industry, promoting economic growth and establishing the City’s position in the region," emphasized Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee.
According to the Chairman, with DANAFF I Da Nang aims to create a brand for regional and international film industry events, contributing to the global integration of Vietnamese cinema in general and Da Nang cinema in particular. It is an opportunity to exchange professional expertise among domestic and foreign filmmakers, seek cooperation opportunities, expand the market, and contribute to promoting the image of Viet Nam, its people, and the city of Da Nang. The event will also help build Da Nang into an impressive event city.
"This is the first time that Da Nang has organized an international-scale film event. We hope that the city will leave a good impressions on visitors, tourists, and friends both inside and outside the country," said Mr. Le Trung Chinh.
The opening ceremony focused on introducing the culture and hospitality of Da Nang’s people, as well as the unique characteristics of Asian cinema, promoting "Viet Nam's integration" and the dynamic image of Viet Nam through the destination of Da Nang.
