At noon on August 16, Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong hosted a reception for the delegation led by the Deputy Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (South Korea) during their visit to Da Nang.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong expressed his gratitude to Deputy Governor Kim Aesook, who is responsible for foreign political relations, for regularly inviting Da Nang to participate in international events organized by Jeju, such as the 2023 Jeju International Future Generation Forum and the 19th Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity. He also acknowledged Jeju's active participation in the Vietnam-Korea Festival in Da Nang and their sponsorship of ingredients for the Culinary Competition held as part of the festival.
Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong noted that to date, both sides have implemented several significant cooperation programs. Notably, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Da Nang City signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a cooperative relationship in August 2023, marking a new milestone in the relationship between the two localities.
To further effectively implement this Memorandum of Understanding, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong suggested that Deputy Governor Kim Aesook enhance cooperation in organizing cultural exchange activities and promote tourism cooperation to deepen the people-to-people diplomacy between the two localities.
Additionally, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong invited the Jeju provincial government delegation to participate in the "City Partnership Forum - Da Nang 2025," scheduled to take place from January 15-17, 2025. The event is expected to bring together 49 localities from 22 countries and territories, along with both domestic and international delegates.
This forum is an opportunity to share, exchange, and evaluate the effectiveness of local-level cooperative relationships that Da Nang has established over time. It is also an occasion to strengthen friendships and cooperation with localities with which the city has established relationships, expand cooperation with potential new localities, and promote international cooperation in areas of interest to the city, such as: innovation, smart cities, information technology, high technology, the semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence, urban planning and management, high-quality human resource development, and tourism. Through this, Da Nang will promote its image, potential, and strengths, affirming its important role and position in foreign relations and international integration.
Deputy Governor Kim Aesook expressed her willingness to participate in this important event and emphasized that Jeju Province would continue to create favorable conditions to strengthen cooperation with Da Nang in various fields, including tourism, trade investment, and agriculture-fisheries.
Deputy Governor Kim Aesook also committed to promoting specific cooperation programs to bring practical benefits to both sides, contributing to sustainable development and mutual prosperity.
