On the morning of September 18, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Quang Nam led a meeting with the the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam said that Da Nang has been implementing many underground projects: burying power cables, building rainwater drainage systems, wastewater systems, water supply, information networks, electricity supply, etc.
However, the underground works that have been invested in and are being planned in the city are still localized, isolated, mainly serving certain purposes, and lack interconnection between underground structures.
The reality requires the city to soon have an urban underground space plan as a basis for investing in underground works, saving land, protecting the environment, and facilitating management, operation, and exploitation.
Therefore, Da Nang proposes ADB to fund projects on climate change response and disaster risk reduction management for the city.
The ADB delegation representative said that Da Nang is a dynamic city with many advantages in developing a smart city.
In addition, the National Assembly recently issued Resolution No. 136/2024/QH16 dated June 26, 2024, on organizing the urban government model and piloting some specific mechanisms and policies for Da Nang City's development, which is a positive signal for the city. ADB expects Da Nang to make many breakthroughs in the coming time.
For now, Da Nang and ADB continue to concretize the memorandum of cooperation between the two parties on January 26, 2024, on the goal of sustainable and comprehensive socio-economic development of Da Nang and effective implementation of Da Nang's planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 through programs and projects supported by ADB.
