From November 18 to 20 (local time), Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh and members of the city's delegation held meetings with various organizations and businesses in New York and Washington DC (USA) to promote economic and investment cooperation.
* In New York, on the morning of November 18, the city delegation met with the Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC). Chairman Le Trung Chinh noted that Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City have been selected to implement the project of building regional and international financial centers in Vietnam.
The Chairman requested FSVC to continue sharing experiences and advising on legal frameworks, preferential policies, and specific support mechanisms for the regional financial center in Da Nang to maximize its competitive advantages and complement the comprehensive international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City.

* The delegation also visited the Wheelabrator Westchester waste treatment plant of Win Waste Innovations Group, learning about their solid waste treatment process in Peekskill, Westchester, New York.
Chairman Le Trung Chinh appreciated Win Waste Innovations' experience and achievements in developing modern waste treatment solutions, sharing Da Nang's goal of becoming an environmental city.
With rapid population growth and strong urban development, sustainable waste management solutions, including the waste-to-energy technology being implemented at the Wheelabrator Westchester Plant, are considered highly feasible models for Da Nang to study and apply, helping to solve the city's waste treatment issues effectively and in an environmentally friendly manner.

The delegation also visited Elizabeth Port, an important component of the New York and New Jersey Port system - the largest port complex on the Northeast coast of America.
* On the afternoon of November 19, in Washington DC, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh and members of the delegation met and worked with Carol Henniger, Assistant Secretary of State and Chief of the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, and representatives from the International Technology Security and Innovation Fund (ITSI Fund) to promote cooperation activities in the semiconductor industry.
Chairman Le Trung Chinh requested the U.S. State Department and ITSI Fund to continue supporting Da Nang in training and developing human resources for the semiconductor industry, especially through scholarship programs, specialized training, and cooperation with leading U.S. universities, implementing STEM education programs in schools as well as recommending appropriate policies for Da Nang.
Informing that Da Nang is the only locality in Vietnam allowed to pilot specific preferential policies in the semiconductor field, the Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his hope that the U.S. State Department would connect and introduce potential U.S. businesses and investors to study investment and business opportunities in Da Nang.

Mrs. Carol Henniger hopes that in the coming time, Da Nang will continue to cooperate closely with Arizona State University to effectively implement training programs for testing and packaging human resources within the framework of the ITSI Fund initiative. She affirmed that they will collaborate in exchanging and researching related policies with Da Nang.
* At the meeting with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on the morning of November 20, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh thanked and highly appreciated the support this agency has provided to Da Nang in recent times, especially in the areas of environment and local capacity building.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested USAID to continue expanding the scope and areas of cooperation according to the agreement signed between the two parties in January 2024, focusing on environmental priorities, sharing experiences related to solid waste management, waste sorting at source, considering the establishment of a carbon credit office in Da Nang, and supporting Da Nang in building an innovative ecosystem.

In discussions with Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh, USAID Global Deputy Administrator Michael Schiffer affirmed that USAID will work closely with Da Nang city to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.
