Construction of flyover at Hue T-junction begins in Da NangOn 28 September, the Da Nang People’s Committee began construction of the multi-level flyover project at Hue T-junction. The first phase of the Build-Transfer (BT) project will involve a total investment of 1,797 billion VND (85.2 million USD). Construction is scheduled to be completed over the next 18 months.

Da Nang’s students with top marks at university entrance exams honouredAn awards ceremony was held in Da Nang on 26 September to honour 21 students who had gained top marks at this year’s university entrance examinations nationwide. At the ceremony, they received Certificates of Merit and rewards totalling 73 million VND from Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Van Huu Chien.

CIO award for Director of Da Nang Department of Home AffairsThe award ceremony for the 9th ASEAN Chief Information Officer and Chief Security Officer (CIO/CSO) Awards in 2013 took place in Ho Chi Minh City in 25 September. 20 outstanding candidates from ASEAN member countries won CIO awards, and 8 others won the CSO titles. Mr Dang Cong Ngu, Director of the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs, was one of the 9 Vietnamese candidates who won the CIO titles at this year’s Awards.

Japan conducts pre-feasibility study on mother and child care centre project in Da NangThe Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Phung Tan Viet, recently met with the delegation of the International Total Engineering Corporation (ITEC) from Japan led by Mr Shigehito Akagi on the implementation of a pre-feasibility study for the construction of a mother and child care centre in one of the 3 cities: Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM City.

Da Nang’s Duy Tan University wins third prize for earthquake resistant model building designThe Duy Tan University recently announced that it has won a third prize at the "Introducing and Demonstrating Earthquake Engineering Research in Schools (IDEERS)", an earthquake resistant model building design competition, held in China’s Taiwan from 14 to 15 September.

30 Sep to 4 Oct: UK Film Festival in Da NangThe British Council Vietnam will bring the UK Film Festival 2013 to audiences in Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City from 30 September to 4 October. The Da Nang event will take place at the Megastar Vinh Trung Plaza (4th Flr 255-257 Hung Vuong Street) every day in the week. In addition, for the first time, outdoor showings will be held in Hoa Vang District.

Da Nang celebrates 40th anniversary of Viet Nam-Japan diplomatic tiesA Viet Nam–Japan cultural exchange programme with a series of activities took place recently in the city to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties (21 September 1973 – 21 September 2013) between Japan and Viet Nam. The programme was jointly held by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Associations and the city's Viet Nam-Japan Friendship Association. The event attracted the participation of many Japanese nationals who are living and working in Da Nang, and residents and students of the city.

Da Nang voted Asia’s 7th holiday destinationViet Nam’s Da Nang, along with the Philippines’s Boracay and Taiwan’s Taipei, have been ranked the 7th in the top ten holiday destinations in Asia in 2013, whilst Ha Noi stood the 5th place, up one place from last year.
