City leaders meet with the newly appointed Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Danang

On the afternoon of January 30, the leaders of the City Party Committee, the People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Danang City received the newly appointed Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Danang, Vonekhamsy Cheuangmanyong, on the occasion of the commencement of her term.

Secretary of the City Party Committee Lê Ngọc Quang welcomed the new Consul General in her position and affirmed that Danang always values and continuously nurtures the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The Party Secretary expressed confidence that Ms. Vonekhamsy Cheuangmanyong will continue to serve as a bridge to promote cooperative relations between Da Nang and various localities in Laos across multiple fields.

Mrs. Vonekhamsy Cheuangmanyong expressed her gratitude for the warm reception by the city leadership, affirmed her determination to successfully fulfill her duties, contributed to consolidating and developing the friendship between the peoples of the two countries, and also extended New Year greetings to the leaders and people of Danang.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Trần Nam Hưng stated that after the merger, Danang continues to maintain, consolidate, and enhance close cooperation with the localities of Laos, highly appreciating the effective coordination and support received in the past.

In addition, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Nguyễn Phi Hùng affirmed that the city’s Fatherland Front is always ready to coordinate in organizing people-to-people exchange activities, contributing to the enhancement of mutual understanding and strengthening the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Strengthening comprehensive cooperation with Champasak Province (Laos)

At noon on January 27, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyễn Đình Vĩnh presided over a meeting with Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee (Lao PDR) Souphap Thammahacksa and the delegation visiting and working in Danang City.

Permanent Deputy Secretary Nguyễn Đình Vĩnh welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of Danang's socio-economic development in 2025, along with the development goals and targets for 2026. He also stated that the city leadership had agreed on a cooperation program with the southern and central provinces of Laos for the 2026–2030 period, including Champasak Province, to continue implementing previous commitments and incorporate the proposals from the Laos side into the joint cooperation program.

It is expected that in April 2026, Danang will organize a high-level working delegation to visit the southern and central provinces of Laos and simultaneously hold an investment promotion conference in Champasak. The city also agreed on the policy to invest in upgrading two western routes, contributing to enhanced regional connectivity.

Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee Souphap Thammahacksa congratulated Danang on its achievements and expressed the hope that the two localities will continue to effectively implement cooperation agreements, contributing to deepening the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Chairman of the City People's Committee Phạm Đức Ấn receives the delegation from Sekong Province (Laos)

At noon on January 30, Mr. Phạm Đức Ấn, Central Party Committee member, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Danang City People's Committee, received a delegation from Sekong Province (Laos) led by Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Khanti Silavongsa, who came to visit and extend Lunar New Year greetings.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee provided information on the results of the 14th National Party Congress, the 1st Congress of the Danang City Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term, and the city's socio-economic development situation in 2025. He also noted that Danang is developing a proposal to strengthen cooperation with the localities of Laos for the 2026–2030 period, aiming to promote comprehensive, practical, and effective collaboration.

Both sides agreed to continue effectively implementing signed cooperation programs and projects, and to enhance cooperation in the fields of education and training, investment, trade, tourism, transport, and border gate infrastructure development.

Deputy Secretary of the Se Kong Provincial Party Committee, Khanti Silavongsa, highly valued the practical support from Danang and affirmed the determination to jointly nurture the great friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, and between Danang and Se Kong.

Paris Europlace partners with Danang to shape an international financial center

On January 29, the Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hồ Kỳ Minh chaired an online working session with the Paris Europlace Financial Association to discuss cooperation for operating and developing the Vietnam International Financial Center in Danang according to global standards.

Mr. Olivier Virgna, Chief Representative of Paris Europlace, affirmed his readiness to accompany the city in the long term, sharing experiences in building a modern financial ecosystem, especially in the fields of green finance, sustainable finance, fintech, digital assets, and high-quality human resource training. He also emphasized the key role of effective public-private sector connections, a model that has helped Paris become a leading financial center in Europe.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee stated that the Vietnam International Financial Center in Danang officially commenced operations on January 9, 2026, marking an important initial step in the strategy to develop Danang into a new growth hub for finance and services. The city has identified priority areas, including green and sustainable finance, fintech, and digital assets.

In addition, both parties have agreed to establish a long-term cooperation program, focusing on governance consulting, advanced training, expert exchanges, and connecting European financial institutions with Danang.

Danang – Vientiane (Laos) exchange experiences on the Public Administrative Service Center model

At noon on January 26th, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hồ Quang Bửu received and held a working session with a delegatio‍n from Vientiane Capital (Laos) to learn about and exchange experiences in operating the Public Administration Service Center model.

The Vice Chairman emphasized that administrative reform is a key task, in which science, technology, and digital transformation are identified as foundations for building a smart city and improving the quality of service for citizens and businesses. The city is actively reviewing and simplifying administrative procedures, reducing compliance time and costs, enhancing digitalization of records, providing electronic results, implementing procedures independent of administrative boundaries, while also applying various free utilities and humane service models at the Public Administration Service Centers.

After the reorganization of administrative units, with a population of over 3 million people, the city continues to innovate its governance methods, consistently putting citizens and businesses at the center of its services. Currently, the model of the Public Administration Service Center is implemented in a coordinated manner, consisting of one city-level center and 93 centers at the ward and commune levels, playing a key role in implementing a one-stop, interconnected, service mechanism.

The Vientiane delegation highly valued the centralized, modern, open, and transparent organization and expressed interest in the city’s approach of putting citizens and businesses at the center of its services.

Opening of the 2026 International Scientific Conference at Danang Hospital

On the morning of January 30, Danang Hospital, in collaboration with the nonprofit academic medical center Mayo Clinic (USA), held the 2026 Danang Hospital International Scientific Conference. Taking place from January 28 to 30, the conference is building upon the success of the 2023 edition, aiming to expand the academic space to a regional and international level, serving as an important forum for professional exchange, experience sharing, and updating advancements in modern medicine.

Deputy Minister of Health Trần Văn Thuấn highly praised Danang Hospital's spirit of innovation and integration, while emphasizing the role of scientific research, technology application, and international cooperation in improving the quality of medical examination and treatment.

Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi affirmed that Danang always regards healthcare as a pillar of social welfare, with Danang Hospital playing a key role by gradually mastering many advanced techniques, approaching regional and international standards.

On this occasion, Professor James H. Bower (Mayo Clinic, USA) was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Danang City People's Committee for his positive contributions to professional collaboration and medical development at Danang Hospital.

Delegation from the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs visits Mỹ Sơn

On the morning of January 31, an Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister P. Kumaran, visited and held discussions with the Management Board of the Mỹ Sơn World Cultural Heritage Site.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on progress and strategic directions for implementing restoration and conservation projects at the site. Additionally, the delegation toured the temple complex and enjoyed a performance of Chăm folk art.

Highly valuing the historical, architectural, and cultural significance of the Mỹ Sơn World Cultural Heritage Site, Mr. P. Kumaran acknowledged the past conservation efforts and affirmed the effectiveness of cooperation between India and Danang in this field. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Government of India will continue to strengthen cooperation and support the city of Danang in preserving and promoting the values of the Mỹ Sơn heritage.

DIFF 2026: 6 dazzling nights of competition promising to open new horizons of connection

The Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026, with the theme "Danang – United Horizons," will take place from May 30 to July 11, 2026, at the Hàn River port area. The stand and stage are arranged on Trần Hưng Đạo Street, opposite the fireworks site.

According to Plan No. 34/KH-UBND dated January 27, DIFF 2026 includes 6 contest nights:

The opening night (May 30) with the theme "Nature" will be the competition between the Vietnamese team (Danang) and China.

Night 2 (June 6) with the theme "Heritage" includes the participation of French and Vietnamese teams (Z21 Vina Pyrotech).

Night 3 (June 13), with the theme "Culture" is a competition between Japan and Italy.

Night 4 (June 20) with the theme "Creativity" between Germany and Macau.

Night 5 (June 27) with the theme "Vision" between Australia and Portugal.

The final night takes place on July 11 with the theme throughout the festival.

The prize structure includes the Champion’s prize worth 20,000 USD, the runner-up prize worth 10,000 USD, and the Fan Favorite, Creative, and Promising Team prizes worth $5,000 each.

Danang students actively participate in the presentation contest exploring the country and people of India

On the afternoon of January 27, the Union of Friendship Organizations of the city, in coordination with the University of Education – University of Danang, the Danang city’s  Vietnam – India Friendship Association, the Embassy of India in Vietnam and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center, has organized the presentation contest "Exploring India: Land and People" to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the Republic of India (January 26, 1950 – January 26, 2026).

The contest is not only an academic platform for students but also a meaningful cultural bridge, helping the younger generation in Danang to gain a deeper understanding of India's history, culture, and people, thereby fostering friendship, respect, and cooperation between the two nations.

Through this contest, Danang continues to affirm its proactive role in people-to-people diplomacy, enhancing cultural and educational exchanges, and contributing to the deepening of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and India.
