In order to improve support for Da Nang businesses to network investment and business cooperation and expand markets with Thai partners, especially overseas Vietnamese businesses in Thailand, on July 4th, the People’s Committee of the City coordinated with the Embassy of Viet Nam in Thailand, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize the Da Nang - Thailand Business Networking Forum.

Attending the forum were Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh; Vice Chairman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Ngo Huong Nam, Vice Chairman of the City’s People’s Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen, about 50 overseas Vietnamese businessmen in Thailand in the fields of fashion, agriculture and food, manufacturing industry - transportation, import and export - distribution of goods, trade - services - construction, etc., and Da Nang businesses.

Speaking at the opening of the Da Nang - Thailand Business Networking Forum, Vice Chairman Ngo Thi Kim Yen said that after two years being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with determination and efforts from both the political system and the city’s people, in the first half of 2022, Da Nang is considered as one of the localities with a fairly rapid economic recovery, gradually regaining growth momentum.

Since its reopening in March 2022, the city has organized a series of international events to attract investment, while continuing to affirm with international friends about a leading festival destination in Asia, such as: “Da Nang - Welcome the world back” to welcome the first 2 international flights bringing more than 300 passengers from Singapore and Thailand to Da Nang; Routes Asia 2022; Da Nang Investment Forum.

According to the Vice Chairman, these are significantly special activities, signaling that Da Nang has returned and is ready to welcome visitors and partners to experience new and attractive tourism products and top quality resorts and to seek investment cooperation.

At the forum, after listening to representatives of the city’s departments, agencies, and sectors introduce the city’s policies to incentivize and encourage investment, trade, and tourism, investment projects attracting businesses’ participation, especially overseas Vietnamese businesses in Thailand, and the city’s outstanding advantages in goods and tourism products, Thai businesses had many proposals to promote trade cooperation between both sides.

After two working sessions at the forum, the Da Nang Young Entrepreneurs Association and the Thailand-Viet Nam Business Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, and tourism; at the same time, some associations and businesses of both sides have initially found their potential partners.
