Enhancing Comprehensive Cooperation Between Da Nang and Switzerland
On the afternoon of November 3, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Mr Ho Ky Minh, welcomed and worked with the Ambassador of Switzerland to Vietnam, Thomas Gass, and Mr. Philipp Rösler, Chairman of the Switzerland-Vietnam Economic Forum.
Mr. Ho Ky Minh extended best wishes to the Ambassador and highly appreciated his role in promoting the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Switzerland, and between Da Nang and Swiss localities and businesses.
The city's leaders provided a brief overview of the socio-economic development situation in the first nine months of the year and the development orientation after the merger with Quang Nam province. The city is focusing on integrating planning, inheriting and promoting the strengths of the two localities, prioritizing the development of tourism, logistics, mechanics (engineering), information technology, and the international financial center.
Da Nang is honored to accompany the Swiss Embassy and the Switzerland-Vietnam Economic Forum in organizing the 2025 Forum, expanding cooperation opportunities between Da Nang and Swiss and European partners. The city's leaders expressed their desire for the Ambassador to continue serving as a bridge to attract investment, promote the business environment, strengthen cultural exchange, and simultaneously requested support in connecting financial experts to serve the establishment of the Da Nang International Financial Center.
Ambassador Thomas Gass expressed his impression of the city's development potential, affirmed that he would encourage Swiss investors to explore cooperation opportunities in Da Nang, and expressed confidence that the Switzerland-Vietnam Economic Forum 2025 would be a great success.

This is a breakthrough institutional decision with strategic significance in mobilizing resources, promoting the transformation of the growth model, enhancing national competitiveness, and demonstrating a commitment to deep integration with the global economy.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính stated that Vietnam has chosen the "one center, two destinations" model with the philosophy of a "smart, digital, and green financial center."</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Hồ Chí Minh City is positioned as a major financial hub, with a strong focus on developing the stock market, bonds, banking, fund management, and listing services; serving as a driving force that directly connects with global capital flows and businesses.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Meanwhile, Đà Nẵng is positioned as a specialized financial center (niche market). Leveraging its advantages in living environment and tourism infrastructure, Đà Nẵng will focus on financial technology (Fintech), wealth management, and green finance. It will serve as a "laboratory" for future financial models.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Chairman of the Đà Nẵng City People's Committee Phạm Đức Ấn emphasized that this is a major decision, providing a driving force for breakthrough development in Đà Nẵng. The city is committed to supporting investors, improving its administrative apparatus and operational mechanisms, and implementing controlled pilot models in areas such as fintech, green finance, and digital finance, ensuring system safety and compliance with international standards. At the conference, the Vietnam International Financial Center in Đà Nẵng awarded</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the morning of December 15, leaders from the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city hosted a meeting for Mr. Souphanh Hadaoheuang, the Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Da Nang, who came to pay a farewell call upon completing his term of office.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">During the meetings, city leaders expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the active and responsible contributions of Mr. Souphanh Hadaoheuang. <p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the evening of December 17, at Furama Đà Nẵng Hotel, the event "Aviation Accompanying Đà Nẵng Tourism 2025" took place, aiming to acknowledge and express gratitude for the aviation industry's partnership in connecting Đà Nẵng with domestic and international tourism markets, playing a significant role in the city's tourism recovery and growth process.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi, assessed that Đà Nẵng's tourism in 2025 continues to experience positive growth, with a strong recovery in visitor numbers, the restoration and introduction of many international flights, and continuous improvements in service quality, contributing to promoting the image of a safe, friendly, and attractive destination.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The city hopes to continue strengthening cooperation with aviation partners, open new flight routes, improve service quality, and promote international markets in the coming period. <p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the morning of December 16, the Department of Science and Technology coordinated with the University of Da Nang to organize the Smart City: Innovation and Experience 2025 Workshop, attracting many experts and scientists from French universities. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Quang Buu attended and gave the opening speech.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The Smart City: Innovation and Experience 2025 ("International Symposium - Smart City: Innovations and Experiences") workshop takes place over 2 days (December 15 and 16, 2025), aiming to promote science and technology initiatives</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">and share practical experiences and solutions in the Da Nang Smart City development strategy; at the same time, it strengthens the connection between researchers, the government, and domestic and international businesses.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At the Workshop, domestic and international experts presented papers on Smart City building strategies, Renewable Energy and energy efficiency strategies for smart cities, and Geographical initiatives and environmental safety in Da Nang.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Within the agenda of the Workshop, there are intensive training sessions on semiconductor microchips and the Internet of Things led by experts and lecturers from French universities; and the Smartcampus competition. The Organizing Committee judged and awarded the special prize of the Smartcampus competition (a sponsorship from the University of Côte d'Azur, France, to attend the Summer School Program within the framework of Digital Transformation Week) to the joint team of the University of Economics - University of Science and Technology – University of Da Nang and the University of Côte d'Azur, France; the first prize went to the joint team of the University of Science and Technology – University of Economics - University of Da Nang.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the morning of December 16, the Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR) organized the launch ceremony for the project "Promoting the active participation of female scientists in climate change adaptation and community-based disaster risk management" and the debut of the Network of Women Scientists in STEM for Climate, Community Development, and Gender Equality (ViWISTEM4C) in Da Nang.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The project is funded by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) of the Embassy of Canada in Vietnam, aiming to build and develop a network of women scientists in STEM for climate, community development, and gender equality; strengthen the role and voice of female STEM scientists in climate response and disaster risk management; and enhance the response capacity of communities, especially women, through community-based disaster risk management models, as well as connect scientists - government - communities to jointly build disaster risk management solutions.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At the program, the Network of Women Scientists in STEM for Climate, Community Development, and Gender Equality (ViWISTEM4C) was officially launched with the participation of typical female scientists, marking the beginning of an interdisciplinary connection space where female scientists can share knowledge, support research, promote innovation, and accompany the community in responding to climate change.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The ViWISTEM4C Network is expected to become a platform for connecting knowledge, promoting climate initiatives, and spreading the role of women in building sustainable communities.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The Vice Chairman affirmed that the visit holds significant importance in strengthening the friendship and mutual trust between the two sides, in line with the framework of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. <p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On January 19, Vice Chairman of the Đà Nẵng City People's Committee, Hồ Quang Bửu, held a working session with Swiss organizations and partners to promote</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">cooperation in the fields of finance and banking, innovation, high-tech healthcare, and human resource training, in line with the orientation of establishing the Vietnam International Financial Center in Đà Nẵng.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">In the field of high-tech healthcare, partners from the Swiss Asia Chamber and Singularity Institute proposed cooperation in establishing a research laboratory and setting up a mental health clinic in Đà Nẵng. In addition, they explored the possibility of establishing a law firm operating within the International Financial Center, as well as collaborating to train high-quality legal professionals.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the afternoon of January 5, Chairman of the City People's Committee Phạm Đức Ấn held a meeting with the Vietnam Cinema Development Promotion Association to discuss the plan for organizing the 4th Đà Nẵng Asia Film Festival (DANAFF IV) in 2026.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">According to the plan, DANAFF IV is expected to take place from June 28 to July 4, 2026, with the motto “DANAFF – A Bridge from Asia to the World.” The main activities will include the opening and closing ceremonies (opening and closing ceremonies are not considered part of the main activities for an event), as well as the awards presentation held at the Ariyana International Conference Center; screenings of competitive and non-competitive films; and training, promotion, and networking activities in the field of cinema. In addition, there will be numerous side events such as the DANAFF booths, outdoor film screenings, press interactions, and meetings with domestic and international artists and filmmakers.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">This year's film festival focuses on professional activities such as workshops on the film industry, intellectual property, advanced classes with international experts, youth talent programs, film project markets, and screenwriting training.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">DANAFF IV is expected to attract approximately 900 delegates, including 200 international guests; the main programs will be broadcast live on VTV and Đà Nẵng Radio and Television.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the morning of January 8, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Hồ Kỳ Minh, presided over a meeting with Ms. Jane Rexworthy, Chair of the UK Skills Partnership (United Kingdom), to discuss skill requirements and human resource development in the field of green finance.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee informed that Đà Nẵng will officially inaugurate the Executive Agency of the International Financial Center on January 9, 2026. In the coming period, the city will focus on consolidating its organizational structure, perfecting operational mechanisms, implementing the "one-stop - single-window" model, while prioritizing the development of fintech, green finance, green transformation, trade finance, and digital assets in accordance with international standards. The Vietnam International Financial Center in Đà Nẵng is oriented to develop based on three pillars: green finance, trade finance, and financial technology – digital assets.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">To date, more than 10 investors, including joint ventures from the Middle East, Singapore, and the United States, have expressed interest and a desire to become strategic investors. City leaders agreed to choose this year's theme as “United Horizons – Connecting Horizons,” conveying a message about a dynamic, integrated city that is a destination for cultural exchange, creativity, and international connectivity.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">According to the draft plan, DIFF 2026 is expected to take place from May 30 to July 11, 2026, in the Han River Port area. The festival will feature 10 fireworks teams from Vietnam and several countries and territories worldwide, including China, Italy, Germany, Portugal, France, Japan, Macau, and Australia.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The competition nights will be held weekly, with each team performing for 20 to 22 minutes according to the 2026 theme. <p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">The opening ceremony was attended by the Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, along with representatives from various departments, sectors, businesses, and a large number of locals and visitors. During her speech, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that Da Nang views culture as its spiritual foundation and tourism as a spearhead economic sector. She stated that events and festivals act as a vital "boost" to increase destination attractiveness, stimulate consumption, and promote socio-economic development.</span></p>

Taking place from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily throughout the festival, Cheer Fest offers a multi-dimensional experience with dozens of stalls featuring local, regional, and international cuisine, beverage areas, handicraft and souvenir shopping, and trending experiential activities.</span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the morning of January 1, Đà Nẵng city erupted with a series of events welcoming the first visitors at Đà Nẵng International Airport, Chu Lai Airport, the ancient town of Hội An, and the special national heritage site of the Marble Mountains.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At Đà Nẵng International Airport, flight VN157 from Hanoi carried the first three guests to 'ring in the New Year,' followed by a flight from Manila with five lucky passengers. Within the morning alone, approximately 1,200 tourists from seven countries (South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, etc.) landed, creating a lively atmosphere with the message 'Welcome to Đà Nẵng.'</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Chu Lai Airport received the first two flights of the year, VJ1370 from Hồ Chí Minh City and VN1641 from Hanoi, with three lucky passengers receiving round-trip domestic tickets from Vietnam Airlines, local specialty gifts, and Đà Nẵng tourism experience vouchers. All passengers on the two flights received souvenirs, vouchers, and participated in check-ins to capture the first moments of the year.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At the local heritage sites, 29 Filipino tourists kicked off their journey touring Hoi An. The famous Marble Mountains also welcomed a group of Japanese visitors with wishes for success. Looking back at 2025, the Marble Mountains received nearly 2.2 million visitors, including over 1.5 million international tourists, creating a positive momentum for the upcoming year.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">A major highlight was the Futon Daiko ceremony—the largest palanquin procession from Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture (Japan)—which officially appeared in Hoi An for the first time. The procession moved through the streets around the Pagoda Bridge area to the lively sound of Taiko drums and powerful cheers, attracting a large crowd of onlookers.</span></p>
