Chairman Tho He affirmed that the local authorities are willing to facilitate foreign investors, including those from Japan, to invest and operate effectively in the city.  The city leader noted that the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) will take place in his city in November.  He, therefore, hoped that JETRO would help the city to appeal for even more businesses from their country to seek the city’s investment opportunities.  He also took the opportunity to appeal for more Japanese businesses to invest in a special industrial zone for Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises, warehouse for leasing to Japanese SMEs as well as invest in such aspects as hi-tech and supporting industries.

In reply, Vice Chairman Akahoshi said that Japanese businesses have always shown a keen interest in investing into Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.  He added that JETRO will organise a seminar in Ha Noi to promote investment into Da Nang.  This will be an opportunity for the seaside city to introduce its strengths and potential, as well as its preferential policies for foreign investors, to Japanese businesses in order to attract them to invest into the city.

It is reported that as of July this year, Japan is the fifth biggest investor with total investment capital of more than 496 million USD among the countries and territories investing in Da Nang.  This country also ranked top for the number of FDI projects with a total of 141, mainly focusing on processing and manufacturing, construction and IT.
